Background

Weyire Addah is a Lecturer in the Department of Crop Science at the University for Development Studies (UDS), having joined the department in December 2021. He teaches undergraduate courses in Arable Crop Production, Plantation and Industrial Crop Production, and Plant Propagation. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the Manager of the UDS Research and Commercial Farm Unit under the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences, where he oversees research farm operations, commercial agricultural activities, and practical field training.

Mr. Addah holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agricultural Technology and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Crop Science (Agronomy) from the University for Development Studies. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Crop Science (Agronomy) at the same institution.

His research focuses on soybean agronomy and production systems, sustainable crop production and soil fertility management, mechanized crop production systems, crop physiology and yield formation, and integrated nutrient management. His current doctoral research investigates the influence of genotype, fertilizer application, and rhizobial inoculation on soybean growth, phenology, yield, and mechanical harvesting efficiency under the Guinea Savanna agroecological conditions of northern Ghana. His work aims to enhance sustainable soybean production and improve mechanised harvesting through integrated crop and nutrient management strategies.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences (FOAFCS), located at the Nyankpala Campus, is the premier faculty of the University for Development Studies (UDS), having begun in 1993 as the Faculty of Agriculture.
